Avalanche attendance for Vacation Bible School
Spirited Times - September 2007

By MARK T. HOSKE

A record number of attendees – an avalanche you might say – joined the cowpokes at Church of the Holy Spirit this summer for Vacation Bible School (VBS), with theme of Avalanche Ranch.

“It was our biggest year ever, with 109 registrants,” said ministry coordinator Stephanie Atwell (up from 90-some last year). Also roped into helping were 24 crew leaders, two assistants (8th graders), nine helpers (6th and 7th graders), and nine teachers.

“We had a great time,” Stephanie said, “and the kids had a great time performing some of what they learned at the 9:15 Mass (the following Sunday).”

Students were asked to “Take a Wild Ride through God’s World” at Church of the Holy Spirit, July 30-Aug. 3. The Scripture-based daytime program is an exciting celebration of God’s love filled with amazing Bible adventures, unforgettable songs, memory-making crafts and life-changing experiences.

Watch the weekly bulletin, distributed at Mass, for the theme of next year’s VBS.

Cowpokes rode tough and avoided cactus to rustle up a lot of fun at this year’s Vacation Bible School.
