Spirited Times - September 2007

By Church of the Holy Spirit Staff

The pastoral staff and a few other groups have been working on a series of events in September and October as we begin a new parish year. (See also online parish calendar, linked below, and other individual stories.)

For four weekends beginning September 8/9, at all of the Masses, we will commission the ministers who serve in various areas of parish life. On the fifth weekend, we will present the Annual Parish Report, including information on our finances, the number of people involved in the various areas of parish life, and the number of persons with whom we celebrated sacraments or special events.

The parish Corresponsabilidad/ Stewardship Committee will then present a series on Stewardship/ Corresponsabilidad over the following 2-4 weekends.

Within this timeframe, we will also celebrate: an appreciation event for parish ministers; the annual Fall Festival with a pot luck dinner and square dancing; the Kingdom Retreat; the annual Craft Bazaar; and a series on the documents of Vatican II presented by Fr. George.

The schedule looks something like this:

§      Sept 8/9 Commissioning of Liturgical Ministers

§      Sept. 15 Minister Appreciation Afternoon, 1-5 p.m.

§      Sept. 15/16 Commissioning of Catechetical Ministers

§      Sept. 19 Series on Documents of Vatican II Begins

§      Sept. 22/23 Commissioning of Outreach Ministers

§      Sept. 22/23 Kingdom Retreat Weekend

§      Sept. 29 Parish Fall Festival (Potluck Dinner and Square Dance)

§      Oct. 6/7 Presentation of Parish Annual Report

It should be a busy and exciting beginning to the new parish year.  Plan to be there!
