Learn Vatican II richness and reforms with Fr. George Spirited Times - September 2007
Called by many the most authoritative voice on issues
of Catholic life and faith today, major Vatican II documents will be studied
at Church of the Holy Spirit for six weeks, starting Sept. 19.
Fr. George Kane, Pastor Emeritus of Church of the Holy
Spirit, will present the six-week series on three major documents from the
Second Vatican Council: the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church; the
Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World; and the Declaration
on Religious Liberty.
This body of works, says Fr. George, tells us how to
direct our lives according to the Gospel. In encouraging attendees, Fr.
George recently noted, in his usual tongue-in-cheek fashion, “You know,
popes come and go, but that Ecumenical Council gathered an incredible amount
of wisdom from all over the world. A lot of people today want to say what
Vatican II means.”
Fr. George will explore what it means with program
participants, who are asked to read the documents before the series begins.
Church of the Holy Spirit has 20 copies of the documents for the first 20
people that sign up. Cost of the series will be the cost of the book, $10.
Additional participants are welcome, but will have to obtain their own
texts.
Sessions will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit in
the Worship Space.
Please call Ray Doud at the Ministry Center
(847-882-7580) to register and make arrangements to pick up the book or for
additional information.
