Retreat: Perhaps this is your year
Spirited Times - September 2007

By MARK T. HOSKE

Retreat with Church of the Holy Spirit for two days of reflection and prayer mixed with a bit of singing, learning, and spiritual renewal. You’ve likely heard about it—this is the fourth year parishioners have provided this experience. Perhaps this is your year.

Michelle Murphy, among a dozen people involved in planning and promotion, said that 11 had registered for the CHS Kingdom Retreat as of late August; there’s space for as many as 25 to 30 participants.

The last few weeks usually see additional registrants, as people are able to commit two days out of their calendars.

“We have some new presenters this year, perhaps with wider personal and spiritual appeal,” Michelle noted. Some of the topics include: God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Reconciliation. There’s so much need for that. It’s refreshing, yet there’s not enough of that in our lives,” she said. There’s also time for reflection and journaling. Often new friendships are formed, Michelle added.

The Fourth Annual Kingdom Retreat will be held at the CHS Kane Center Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, 2007 (without an overnight stay).

If you are interested in attending or helping (with food service or donations) or have questions, please call Sr. Marianne Supan at 847-882-7580.

Michelle Murphy made the retreat sign visible in the Gathering Space on recent Sundays. A display table included a multimedia presentation, candles, cookies, and other information about the retreat: “All part of our shameless promotional efforts,” she says, smiling.
