MARDI GRAS 2019
Talented CHS students were present on Sunday, March 3rd to celebrate Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras! Parishioners were pleasantly greeted with a concert of ragtime music after the 10 am and 12 pm masses. A huge THANK YOU goes out to Ms. Van Tang for coordinating the group, and to the participants of the Mardi Gras Ensemble for sharing their music with us! |
When the Saints"When the Saints Go Marching In", often referred to as "The Saints", is a Black spiritual. Though it originated as a Christian hymn, it is often played by jazz bands. This song was famously recorded on May 13, 1938, by Louis Armstrong and his orchestra.

Just a Closer WalkMorris wrote down the words and music and published the song “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” that year, 1940, adding a few lyrics of his own to provide more breadth. ... "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" became better known nationally in the 1930s when African-American churches held huge musical conventions.
