Confirmation 1 Retreat 3/5/2022
Mrs. Marsha Darga, Mrs. Jean Lemp, Mr. Steve Zeier and Mr. Ron Janiak's classes participated in the retreat "My Journey to the Cross". This was a time for reflection but they also had a good time.

The Religious Education programs, in conjunction with Military Outreach USA, collected donations for veterans transitioning from homelessness to an apartment with move-in essentials. This was a wonderful blessing to a veteran in need within our community. Thank you for serving those who served us! |

Ms. Marsha, Ms. Lemp's class and Ms. Adelita who took Mr. Steve's class attended a session at FMSC on Tuesday, October 26th. Youth Ministry Conference NCYC
Our Your Ministry group attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, Nov. 18-21. The theme was Ablaze. The second chapter of the book of Acts tells about the coming of the Holy Spirit. At NCYC 2021, they called upon the Holy Spirit to descend upon our young Church and set them Ablaze for the Lord! |
2020-2021
Last June, 5th, 2021, the Youth Ministry group organized a carwash fundraiser. Our young people and facilitators worked very hard not only that day but the previous weeks in preparation for this event. It was a total success! Thank you for your support!

Celebration of Sacraments during the Spring 2021. We had 12 masses in total and each mass felt very special and touching. May God bless our young people and our Lady accompany them through their journey of faith.

Feed My Starving Children Visit
Over one hundred Confirmation students, catechists and chaperones attended a session at FMSC on Feb. 18, as part of their Confirmation Program. Our youth is making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Mass Hosted by Sunday Confirmation Students
On Sunday 12-16-19 Ms. Adelita Zeier's Confirmation Level 2 class hosted the 8am Mass. They were very well prepared. They came to rehearsals and took care of every detail. They did a great job! Students and their families enjoyed the delicious breakfast that Ms. Adelita brought from home. We look forward to having our students host Masses during their school year. Christmas Card Project
Ms. Lexi's and her 1st grade class made Christmas cards for soldiers. She sent them to her cousin's troop and he sent pictures back of his troop with the cards! It is wonderful to see the faces connected with the Christmas card project. Thank you Ms. Lexi and kids for doing this beautiful project! O Little Town of Bethlehem
More than 100 students and their families enjoyed their morning learning about Bible times, making crafts, listening to Carols, and visiting Jesus, Mary and Joseph at the stable. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers and RE families that joined us. |
Books of the Bible Hopscotch
Ms. Jhina and Ms. Lucy's class outside teaching our Religious Education students about the books of the Bible in a fun way. We are happy to say that our students look forward to RE classes! We are grateful for our creative catechists! Saints Fair
Our Religious Education students worked hard to present their research on their saints on November 3rd at the 10 am and 12 pm masses. Students will be available to provide additional information or answer questions about the saints. Congratulations to our students, RE families and catechists for their support!. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 6 of our Confirmation groups (more than 120 participants) met at Feed My Starving Children. Teens, catechists and chaperones hand-packed nutritious MannaPack™ meals specifically designed to assist in reversing and preventing undernutrition in underdeveloped countries. 2nd Graders Host Mass 3/17/19
Our 2nd grade students did a great job hosting the 10 am. Mass. Fr. Smilanic was very impressed with their work and knowledge. Thank you to the wonderful catechists Ms. Lexi Majeski and Ms. Lucy Porter and the support of all our RE parents. Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast
Our confirmation students did a great job at the Enactment of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe and also helping to set up, preparing, heating and serving delicious dishes. The little dancers performed "Poco Loco' featuring Coco and El Baile de los Viejitos, among other songs. A good time was had by all. All Saints Day

Christmas Around the World
Students and their parents visited different countries represented in classrooms. We had Music & Crafts from each country. Close to 100 students were confirmed by Blase Cardinal Cupich in June. His homily touched the hearts of many. First Graders
Our first graders learning through play. Ms. Lucy Porter created wonderful learning experiences for the kids; eg. Our Heroes, the Saints, drawings on balloons of gifts of the Holy Spirit that have impacted them, the 12 Apostles craft using egg cartons, the Resurrection Eggs, among many other Religious Education hands on lessons. Way of the Cross
Our Confirmation students enacted the Stations of the Cross on Holy Friday. St. Nicholas Event
Children and parents enjoyed this session learning of about the real man behind "Santa Claus", a gift giver, a bishop, a saint . The Youth Ministry teens played cheerful tunes, kids made beautiful crafts, our Confirmation students volunteered at every station. We had a full house! Mardi Grass

After attending 2 years of religious education, 150 children received Jesus in the the Holy Eucharist for the first time. May they continue to flourish and grow in the light of God's love. Congratulations! |

Gospel Enactment: Jesus heals Bartimaeus the blind man
On October 25th, 2015 the spirit players of Ms. Lettie's Jr. High Confirmation class enacted the Gospel of the day: Jesus heals Bartimaeus, the blind man. Dia de los Muertos ~ All Souls Day Project 11/2/15
Ms. Blanca Munoz class participated in a project: Altarcitos de Dia de Muertos. They created little altars to honor the lives of those who have passed. Creating these altars is one of the most important traditions during Day of the Dead in Mexico. Candy for Veterans
Thank you to all who donated candy! Our Confirmation students put their artistic talent to work and about 400 goodie bags were delivered to Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago and the Streamwood VFW for Veteran’s Day. Instructional Mass
Fr. John Dearhammer presented a Mass class to our Saturday students and some parents that stayed that day. Mass is the “high point” of our ability to worship God and God’s ability to “sanctify,” or make holy the world in which we live. |
All Saints Day 11/1/2015
Children from our Parish and the Religious Education program came dressed as their favorite Saint on All Saints Day! Saint Andrew, Holy Mary, St. Juan Diego and St. Francis of Assisi were among the many saints that joined us on this memorable day! Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
The Knights of Columbus Council 6964 sponsored a delicious pancake breakfast on Sunday, 11/8/15 before and after all Masses. Our confirmation students signed up to help out. We would like to thank our dedicated Knights, our helpful young volunteers and all the parishioners that enjoyed this traditional egg, sausage and pancake breakfast. Miss Rosi Viquez, DRE, and our HS Confirmation students went on a field trip to FMSC in October. They were able to deepen their understanding of hunger in the world. Reconciliation Parent Meeting

Lady of Guadalupe Feast
Celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Enactment of the apparitions by our Confirmation students. Cookie Baking Project
In preparation for celebrating St. Nick’s feast day, our Confirmation volunteers baked delicious cookies and packaged them along with candy for the young children of our parish. All Saints Day
CHS Religious Education Program celebrates “The Communion of Saints”, which is the expression which refers to the spiritual union of the members of the Church, living and the dead, those in heaven and on earth. We are united to one another forever. The CHS Religious Ed program celebrated the feasts of All Saints and All Souls the weekend of Nov. 1st & 2nd. Our students were asked to research their name saint/birth date saint. Their projects were on display in the Hospitality Room. They did a wonderful job! Some of the students from the Spanish program were asked to do additional projects representing the cultural tradition of All Souls’ Day when families visit their deceased loved ones at the cemetery or create small altars (or altarcitos) at home in their memory. Please stop by the tables decorated with pictures, flowers and candles found in the Gathering Space. Our Religious Ed students were asked to work together to research each child’s saint. Children were asked to wear their costumes to join in the procession at the beginning of Mass. We also want to thank all the parents for working with their children on their projects, and those who put their creativity into the saint costumes! Jr. High Confirmation Retreat
A wonderful group of enthusiastic people! Goodie Bags for our Vets made by our Confirmation students.
Many thanks to all who donated candy for our Goodie Bags for Vets Project. The CHS Confirmation classes were able to prepare 350 - 400 Goodie Bags that were be delivered personally to the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago for Veteran’s Day. The students put their artistic talent to work by decorating the bags with notes of appreciation and gratitude for those who serve our country. Fun was had by all!
