Who we are ....
Patron: The parish
is dedicated to the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.
History:
The parish was founded in 1974 in a
rapidly growing area in the far northwest corner of Cook County.
The founding pastor, Fr. George Kane, served the parish for its
first 24 years. The founding parishioners sought to create a
community of faith that would welcome all and seek to lead all
more deeply into the mystery of Christ and the life of the
Spirit through worship, formation, and outreach. The parish
continues to grow on many levels,
and now serves a diverse community of Anglos, Hispanics,
Filipinos, and other immigrant groups. Mass is celebrated each
week in English and Spanish, and major feasts are bilingual and
multicultural.
Treasure:
Truly our greatest treasure is our
well-formed, diverse, and dedicated leadership. Over 150
individuals have completed two years of ministry formation in
English or Spanish, and animate over 100 parish ministries.
Another treasure is our annual Country Fair, which began in the
early years of the parish. The Fair brings us together in all of
our diversity to invite our neighbors into five days of food,
fun, music and prayer (an outdoor bilingual, multicultural Mass
begins the last day of the Fair). |
